The patent cliff is a deadline
Between now and the end of the decade, a wave of the industry's biggest products lose exclusivity. That is tens of billions in revenue that large pharma has to replace, and the cleanest way to replace it is to acquire or license assets that are already de-risked. Demand for good science is going up, not down.
For an inventor, that is opportunity, but only if the asset is ready when the buyer is. Ready means clean title, organized clinical evidence, a defined patient population, and a value case a partner can underwrite. The work of getting ready takes longer than most people expect, which is exactly why it should start early.
